Action Plan – Why SVS ?

Whether you are aware of it or not, someone you know may have been a victim of sexual violence. You may have been one, too.

Approximately one man in six and one woman in four will become victims of sexual violence in his or her lifetime.

In approaching the subject of sexual violence, efforts must first be directed to protecting infants and children, for sexual abuse can and does begin at this early stage. Such violent abuse can engender a multitude of injuries, conscious or unconscious, most often not treated or treated badly.

It is time that things change. It is time for every country to say STOP to sexual violence, with conviction and with a real strategy of eradication. Simultaneously it is essential to care for those who suffer in order to heal those injuries. Thanks to specifically targeted protocols this can be a truly effective healing.

It is for these reasons that the association SEXUAL VIOLENCE: STOP! (SVS) was created.

The number one objective of SVS is to put into place a strategy of eradication of sexual violence in France and hopefully in other countries. To achieve this purpose, SVS began officially on 11th March, 2013 with a multi-disciplinary meeting in the French Senate building. This first official meeting helped prepare the National Conference on Sexual Violence, held in January 2014.
